Support

It is important to have people in your life for many reasons. First, connection is important to humans because it reminds us that we are not alone and there are others out there who we have shared experiences. Whether you want support for the trouble you are experiencing at work, or the desire to share a funny story with someone, having someone there provides a positive impact. Second, we want to make sure we have the right people in our lives. Individuals who promote negativity should be limited. When we surrounds ourselves with negative people, we tend to expel more energy trying to stay at homeostasis. People tend to feel drains after having interactions with negative people. Finally, having support is good for our physical health. Research shows that when we have support, there is less physical strain on our heart and we are healthier overall.

Similarly, by finding a friend to workout and/or diet with research shows you will be more successful in achieving your goals. Having a buddy to go through the change with will help keep you motivated and accountable. On those days you just aren’t feeling a trip to the gym a buddy can push you to get moving!
